Assays on this kaolin show silica, mica, iron, titanium impurities that limit paper coating uses, but are in beneficial quantities for ceramics production in my view. The ochre weather crust seems to be on the exposed surface. In my use, I cut this away with a loop tool, hydrate the cleaned porcelain product into a slurry. Use it directly as a fan brush illustration on wet low fire earthenware. Shouldn’t work, but does. I use it to add alumina to my exceptionally poor dug earthenware, crushed rock bodies and porcelain experiments.

Full on porcelain experiment with ash glaze. Yes it leaks, I need a cone 10 gas kiln to go forward with this.
